MFS required a cohesive illustration approach to communicate complex financial concepts clearly and consistently across digital platforms. The challenge was to create a system that could scale across diverse subject areas, while maintaining a strong, recognisable visual identity.
The solution was a modular illustration system built on a structured grid and a core library of geometric forms. This foundation enabled the creation of a flexible visual language, capable of adapting across themes such as wealth management, retirement, sustainability and education planning without losing consistency.
A dual-style approach, combining flat and overlapping elements, was introduced to balance clarity with visual depth. This allowed content to remain accessible while adding richness and dimension where needed. To further enhance engagement, modular human elements were integrated, bringing a sense of relatability and helping to contextualise abstract financial ideas.
The outcome is a scalable, future-ready illustration toolkit that supports a wide range of content, from high-level storytelling to detailed, data-driven visuals, while reinforcing MFS’s structured, research-led brand approach.
